I've finally washed my car and taken some photos!!!

Post by Lincs-SW20 »

Well...when I say I washed it, what I mean is some polish guys did it for me ;)

Anyway - here's the results.

In case anyone's wondering why some of the car is matt and some of it gloss, that's due to quite a large portion of the lacquer being missing, presumed dead.

Looking good :thumleft:

Did you fit the exhaust bungs?

Do they make a difference in loudness?

Do they change the tone?

They're not actually just plain bungs; they're tuned baffles. They're made by Japspeed and I believe were an optional extra when the exhust was purchased new.

The difference in volume is unbelievable! Without the baffles in, the exhaust comes in at 104.6dB. With the baffles in, it's 89dB. That's one hell of a difference.

They don't really make much difference to the tone of the exhaust but it obviously does rasp a hell of a lot more without them in.

The car actually feels slightly quicker with the baffles in but I've yet to get it rolling roaded to prove the fact!

It's far too loud to drive on the road with them out

NA's rely on back pressure, so the bungs making it feel faster will be right :thumleft:

What plans have you got for her?

Well a replacement gearbox will soon be on the cards because 2nd is very crunchy at anything but 'miss daisy' revs.

I'm also planning braided hoses all round (including clutch) and eventually a Rev 3 engine conversion.

She's currently my daily driver but will be more of a road legal track car once I've got my Celica on the road.

Yeah I like those too...apparently they're officially 'driving lights' not fog lights (or at least that's the line when you get pulled over...) ;)
