Garth,

Will be swapping my MK1 wheels over and will have a spare set of MK1s, with tyres, that you can borrow to move the car around on.

But will need them back with the tyres eventually, but would get you out of a hole while you do any winter work.

And so the welding has begun...

After digging around in the rear of the sills (see pic) it was quite bad.

started to have me doubts about this as im not a expert welder, and there is a lot to do :(
Then the welder runs out of wire

Anywho repaired the inner sill, and going to order some repair panels.

Then onto the front wheel arches.
Fingers crossed

Oh thanks for all the offers for wheels, think im sorted now.

For the time and effort involved in repairing the front arches I'd personally either get a new wing from Toyota (£110 ish) or a fibreglass one, Honeybourne do one for (£60 ish).

My frront arches are OK

My front wings are rotting front & rear at the bottom

Shouldn't be a big problem to repair

Wonder what the weight difference is between stock & Honeybourne F/G

Well one is fibreglass and one is mild steel it doesn't take a brain surgeon to work that one out

There's not a big difference in weight Peter, I think the FG ones might be a tad heavier due to their extra thickness. :-k

I know this one!

Unpainted, honeybournes that havent been trimmed of drilled are ~550g lighter than a painted metal wing.

Lol

Some FG panels can be quite a bit heavier than the steel equivalent

I have a honeybourne front wing on the front of mine, and you cannot tell which is the FG one and which is the steel one, not without rapping a knuckle on it anyway.

The weight difference is negligble.

Actually if you angle them out a bit into the airflow you could achieve better brake cooling.

LOL @Peter saying they save weight!
