mr-deux from france

Post by mr-deux »

Hello guys,
my name is Guillaume (William in english)
i'm a 29 year old french mr2 owner.

my car is a 91 milleage revision 1, red 3j6 color, and 3sge motor..
i have recently buy a 3sgte motor to swap in my ride but it's not already done.. i have a lot of work to do.
In my country the 3sgte motor is not légal but i think you already knows that.

Thanks everyone for this very cool forum where i have so many things to read and learn.
I hope my english is not so wrong and someone understand me :)

pictures coming but i'm sure you have all already seen a left hand drive.

Good road to you all :thumleft:

Bonjour and welcome along Guillaume. Your post makes perfect sense to me so your written English is good!

Is it right that all aftermarket modifications are illegal in France?

If you have any questions about your car there are many people here who can help you :thumleft:

Ollie : Unfortunely yes, all aftermarket modifications are illegal in France but some people have made this swap, the big problem is in case of crash the insurance will not pay the repair and it's not possible to sell a mr2 3sge with 3sgte motor.
i have mine since 2004 and i'm very happy with it.

I have heard this before but it seems a lot of you find ways around it, I guess you have to if you have a passion for modified cars. Is there much of a scene for modified cars over there? Many shows?

Hi Guillaume,

Enchanté de faire votre connaissance, et bienvenu au forum IMOC. But since this is an English language forum, netiquette means I have an excuse not to continue torturing you and the community with my shamefully rusty school French.  :o

Guillaume, I'm interested: When you say "illegal" what actions exactly are illegal? Making modifications, or possessing a modified car, or selling one, or using one on the road etc.. ?

Forgive my ignorance - I had no idea about the law in France in this respect.
