t-bar weatherstrips fitting help!

Post by Ben Varnals »

I have replaced my t-bar weatherstrips with 2nd hand but reasonably new (4 years old) seals and there seems to be a slight gap between the window glass and the rubber columns of the seals. Is there something I have done wrong or do I need to readjust the window or doors somehow so that it sit tighter against the glass when the door shuts? bloody t-bar roof is driving me crazy  although when it rains i haven't had any water dripping on me from the usual paces there seems to now be water collecting in the foot well on both sides!

Probably getting in under the seal along the top leading edges then running down inside the door trims so you don't see it and it dribbles out at the bottom into the footwell. That's where mine was coming in from before I replaced the seals for new. Stay in the car and get a mate to spray a hose over till you confirm...
The door glass can be adjusted for fit (though it's a fiddly process) and you can also raise the seals with a few well placed washers to better the contact. You can also get the eccentric guide rods from Mr T themselves which pull the t-bars in tighter but I'd guess a bit of fiddling with the glass will sort it under the circumstances you've mentioned.
None of these will help your problem if the water is coming in under the seals though. Also make sure your wet carpets aren't sweet to the taste....if they are it's not water but coolant from a leaking heater matrix.

Thanx!

I have sorted the leaks at the front but have a gap between the window glass and the rear pillar now. I think my window is sitting at a funny angle (too high at the front, too low at the back)

I have got a guide to adjusting the window but can't work out how to get it to go lower at the front?
