Can't bring myself to sell it

I've had my MR2 Turbo for a few months now as I only got it as a stop gap & i'm starting to want a lot more power. Previous to the Toyota I was into my subaru's last one being an impreza sti classic with 350bhp 340ftlb which was quite nippy! Any how was considering going back to an impreza but for some reason I can not bring myself to get rid of mister 2. I just love driving the car every time i'm in it I have a smile on my face, just something about it I have connected with.

So with all that said I still need more performance it's a rev 2 & only has 59k on it I know that putting a rev 3 or later engine in would be a better option for tuning but would like to know just how far you can go with a rev 2

It already has a decat, mongoose exhaust & filter apart from that it's stock I have picked up a hks fcd for when I adjust the boost & also have a alloy smic to go in

I've not really got a buget as i'll just keep bashing the overtime at work & save my pennies to get the things required it's not used as an every day car so don't matter too much if its off the road for short bursts to have things done

Any comments welcome any problems i'm likely to come across best companies & tuners to use I want a car that's going to be a bit of a monster & shock people with it's turn of pace they'll never expect it from an old K reg Toyota

Yeah they do get under your skin. I've had the same car for over 12yrs...
No tuning tips but if you've come from 4wd and this is your first mid engine rwd buy bits over the winter as you earn but fit in the spring. That way you don't need credit, get to know the car better and can thus judge what to spend on better and you avoid making winter more perilous. These wont help you out so much (sometimes not at all in fact) if you get it wrong on slippery roads.
You don't say where you are but I go to Luke at Pacific Works with mine, just off junc 9 of the M1. He can answer your questions and fettle your motor.

How far can you go ? Wallet is the limit lol rev2's biggest weakness IMHO is the AFM; it will always make things harder. However, the rev2 can run up to 1.0 bar boost with an uprated intercooler and with that, you should see 250-260bhp. Anything over that and a rev3 conversion would be required (at least). So, bigger injectors, ECU, map/mat sensors, etc... this upgrade gets rid of the AFM and would allow the CT26 run up to 1.1-1.2bar.. but that's about the safe limit for the headgasket on the rev2 engine... CT20b turbo next and you could see 300bhp but for that I'd go for a steel HG.
Then it's forgies, mappable ECU + fueling, etc etc etc... many many options. I don't know of any inherent limitations of the rev2 block/head (some say 400 HP is the limit but we've seen more on this forum even)..best to talk to some people who do high power mr2's, Pacific Works, Rogue, Ryan @ 2Bar tuning..my 2p

Top advice guys thank you very much, (i'm in Birmingham) wasn't looking at any body kits to be honest always gone with the stock look with all my cars like them to be a bit of a sleeper! Already decided to stock pile my new parts for spring as like you say a little tail happy when slippery. Will do a couple of track days too next year to start to find what the limit of me and the car will be. This is a great forum full of very useful information looks like i'm gonna be around for a while too The fun starts now then
