It would look absolutely crap if it was colour coded. Am surprised T even suggested it!

I personally would leave it as it is, but thought that you followed some kind of conduct code when modifying it

Looked again and there is a smoothed in spoiler that looks immense, rather than a colour coded black one that's attached! (Got my Levin/Trueno Hyperrevs today  )

Toni, you are thinking of the TRD one. The only problem with that is that you need to get a whole fibreglass bootlid to get the smoothed in one (the spoiler is part of it) as ones that are riveted on just don't look very good. That would be expensive but I agree looks great and then it would be the same colour as the rest of the bootlid.

As I've got the standard spoiler, it's best left as is for the time being.

There isn't one. I am the only AE86 that I know of attending JAE. I tried to drum up interest, but no-one it seems is interested.

What about this huge following you speak of, yet there is no corolla stand and no others are attending JAE? :o

The car has a huge following, no question. See how much attention the car gets at JAE. Trouble is the car is extremely rare in the UK. That and accounting for those that are off the road, means there are very few indeed. That we managed around 18 AE86's at the Ace Cafe meet (thanks no doubt to a guy driving there from Belgium and another from the Alps) was probably a record in this country for a fair few years.

Whats the meaning of the 'Apex' on the hatch? Nice attention to detail by the way! :thumleft:

Apex is denoted because the actual model/trim level name is 'GT-Apex'. Why it doesn't say 'GT-Apex twin cam 16 I don't know, possibly too many letters when you compare with UK/Euro spec of:

'GT twin cam 16'.

The GT-Apex was the top spec AE86 you could buy in Japan.

However, I can only think that 'apex' is simply the usual Japanese play on words which can only (I reckon) be derived from the 'apex' of a corner.

In previous years, the Northern Ireland lot came across for JAE and there were a few '86s amongst them! But IMOC may be a better stand for you to be on... ;)

I deffo won't be at JAE this year. :( Was hoping to pop up for a day (perhaps I still will, still don't know to be honest) at the least, but more than that is a definite no. :( Aside from thesis, got a job interview coming up, so need to focus... Gutted as was really hoping on catching up again, and of course seeing this beast!!

Gutted for you Max. :(

But on the other hand, hope things work out for you. :+:

I've been in touch with our Irish cousins, JAE clashes with a big AE86 meet including a trackday, so guessing that doesn't help. I've had a few that would like to come over but can't make it. I've had zero interest amongst AE86 owners in the UK. :(
