Right we had to back out of Dudestadt, gutted, but every cloud..... So we are coming to Awesomefest, yay!

We'll be convoying down on Friday lunchtime with some local car nuts from North west automotive.

I reckon it's about time we got a list of numbers for who's camping etc as we could pitch up together etc.

I'm going.. I was up at Mallory Park yesterday and it's all coming together nicely, looking great for the weekend as well!

Right back from Awesomefest. Had a really good time. Was slightly more difficult for us as we didn't know that many people. Still, we managed to catch up with the four other AE86 owners. Was great to catch up with Ollie on Friday/Saturday and big thanks for the VIP tickets and Paddock pass. :+:

Also met Brau and it turned out Ross was camping literally opposite us!

It was good fun, watching the pro drifters was seriously impressive. Also watching the punters was nearly as much fun, some pretty ballsy driving there. It has though pretty much helped me make my mind up that I'm not going to drift the AE86 as it's just in way too good condition to be doing that to it! So, will keep to trackdays I think on occasion. :+:

Mark took a few pics:

Adam's AE86 on track:

One for Si, D-Mac's 4 rotor AE86 (engine is same spec as 787B):

Very cool KP60 which was just mental:

Supra turbo nutter barge, Mark liked it, but Supra's don't do anything for me:

:thumleft: Great to see you both too. Did you manage any passenger laps Sunday?

Got home pretty late in the end, wish I could have stayed fr the night drifting but glad I didn't as I would have fallen asleep on the way home for sure. The test 'drift' day I went to Sunday was well worth leaving early for as well.

Great event, a good basis for next year to grow the show :D

I have to say It was a fun event and Driftworks completly got it wrong ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

Told on the phone be fore we went.

(Me) Can you park next to your tent as it seems no info on it on the website
(Cam) No you will have to park in the car park and leave it
(me) Is the car park safe and has a 24 hour security?
(Cam) Nope the only security is in the camping area.
(me) So we would have to leave a £50k skyline in a feild all night were you have NO security??
(Cam)yes same as you leave it in in a carpark

I was not the only one of are group to call driftworks we got so many different answers from them we were so confussed and tbh pretty angry from their rudness.

The Answers we got were

Carpark is 45 min away from were you camp
Club stands had no security at any time of the day
Trade stands will no be able to drive to the trade area all items would have to be carryed over a walkway ( One of group is http://www.gtbitz.com/ owner named Hom)

So on the day only 3 of 15 people were willing to go to the event and no one took their cars just a lexus 300 to fit camping stuff in.

Once there all the things driftworks said was complete sh!t. you could park next to your tent, you could drive round and the carpark was 2min walk and the security/police/fire drove round every area, every hour of so...Their was no inspection of the car to see how much alcohol you had ( very good at hidding it anyway)

Really dissapointed as it turned out to be a fantastic weekend and only a few of us got to see it.

Price for food was good tbh quicklist

Tea £1.
Coffee £1
Beer a pint £3.50
Chips £1.50
In every area moblie bars, chip shop and cafe thing (even in the camping area)

My best bit was Sataday night 10pm pro driving driffers doing the lap with no headlights :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:

Will be going next year if it is back on as it was alot of fun :thumleft: :thumleft: (drunk paintballing is a must  )

You did miss out Ollie, as the Saturday night drifting was just insane! That MK2 Escort was a sight to behold, the speed at which he went barrelling into Gerrards was bordering on suicidal.

We didn't get a ride out on track in the end. Think it was just too hot on Sunday to get me motivated to don jeans, fleece and a helmet. I would have done if it was cooler.

Rich, you should have gone with the flow, pity you got conflicting info. Having been to so many car shows in my time, I knew you'd be able to have your car by the tent as how else are you going to unload all your camping gear. There were no restrictions on driving about in your car either from what we found.

Still, I felt that the organisation was a little lacking to say the least. The DW stand was no stand at all, it was just a car park and a dusty one at that.

Overall it was good though and we did have a very good time. :+:

I think it was a good start as a fresh event.. I'm sure the organisers learnt a fair bit, we (Sky Insurance [as sponsors] ) certainly leant a bit and will improve things for next year. I understand the venue has been booked for this weekend for the next 4 years.

Grrr I know, I've been looking at some of the video footage... everyone is talking about that Escort and the Starlet we liked.

I'll try and sort something officially for passenger rides next time.. :thumleft:

Well that's what they were this year to be fair. To be fair as well there were a lot of freebies, like BMXing, skateboarding, free funfair, music tent, huffy sliders and all that stuff plus probably a few other things. I admit though there was nothing free that I was remotely interested in, so I effectively paid for a load of stuff I didn't use!

It was a good event and though I've done a bit of drifting, it helped put me off it completely as I've come to realise that I don't have a suitable car.
