.. wasnt sure if i could get a mk2 for the cash i had so started looking for mk1s and came accross a g limited jap import which had been advertised for a few months and hadnt sold... So went and saw it, very nice wee car.
few little bits and pieces needed done. But took it for a drive and knockingfrom rear corner thought possible shocky away. and very loud tappetty sound.guy was like yeah i have had a few people look but not bought it casue of the tappety noise.
one guy said it sounded like big ends... but me being me offered the guy less than half what he wanted and drove it home.after driving it for three days the sound got alot louder while driving on the motorway and tried to lim home.
and i heard a loud snapping sound and what felt like a loos in power and a sounding like a ball bearing grummbling around the engine... so got it towed home.After a few days of thinking about it, got the rocker stripped off after suspecting a shim had gave way.
and nothing not a problem with a shim.Turned the engine over by hand and oil is traveling up onto the cam lobes fine.
so next thought was drain the oil and check it for bits of engine... nothing very very fine metallic bits but nothing worrying. im at a loss not sure what it could be but ill put a few pics up for you to see it.
