What fuel pump for Supercharger conversion?

Post by DNOS808 »

Hi

I am converting my Mk1b to a late model 4agze from a Corolla Levin. The engine is standard apart from the usual bigger SC pulley.

I have taken the tank out and removed the standard fuel pump. Does anyone have an idea of what flow rate will be required for the SC engine?

I have been told that the Walbro 225l/hr is massively over spec and that the return lines will not be able to cope! Fensport sells a 176l/hr pump and some people on the Corolla forums recomend the Walbro GSS310 that flows 115l/hr.

Can anyone shed any light on this matter?

Mine has the Walbro 225l/hr one in, and runs fine :thumleft:

don't use the large pulley on the levin, the s/c pulley is smaller than the earlier gze, it'll the s/c will max out long before the engine rev peak. that's what i experienced anyway.

Thats true, but you would drive a charger on the low torque, not on the revs to maximize the power.

With a larger crank and later spec charger pulley the charger exceeds it limits around redline too.

In my experience its more a case of the intercooler reaching its limits rather than the SC itself - improved intercooling allows the SC to deliver useable boost right to the redline. My Levin engined trackcar has a Subaru chargecooler fitted along with the big pulley
