We used to have one on the sprint car, TSS runs a 102dB limit and although we never failed noise with it we were getting close by the time we replaced it
The sprints that I enter run the standard MSA limits Kaiowas. So 108dB top whack
I should be able to pass then with an N/A engine, judging by your experiences

Peter, if you want a brilliant exhaust system and don't mind an hours drive go to http://www.jpexhausts.co.uk in Macclesfield. They'll make a system to spec for you, to your design and however loud or quiet you want.
I've had Magnex systems and all that in the past, but JP will do a much higher quality system for you than the stuff you can buy off the shelf. Cost will be no more either (quite likely less). I wouldn't go anywhere else for exhausts or hard pipes.
If you book it in, reckon they'll do it in a few hours for you.
Anyone else got a Scorpion exhaust?
I picked one up (well, rear section) a couple of years ago from a guy on retro rides for a great price. Looks the part (standard style but s/steel with slightly bigger tips) and makes a good noise. He had it on his S/C a few years before iirc.
Not seen anyone else with one though, have they been out of production for a while?

Many years ago I had one on and old breaker, looked a little cheap compared to the Mongoose/Magnex item
My mate fitted a scorpion exhaust to his sc conversion from an SC I bought as spares. Sounded pretty good. Louder than a magnex/mongoose, but quieter than a janspeed.

I guess the thing about is, is your stock system is falling apart (and one day it will) and you are planning on keeping the car it makes perfect sense to go for a stainless system with a lifetime warranty as you won't have to worry about it rusting away.
A sportier exhaust is nice on the ears too.
I would definitely say that my Janspeed has opened the top end a bit and along with the k&n gives the car a healthy 122bhp and a few more torques then it had when it left the factory.

Not that I can back up with hard facts but internet talk is generally of the opinion that the Janspeed is the best off the shelf exhaust you can fit to a mk1 power wise, even then you're only talking a few bhp at most.
