Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110's

Post by jon »

A ridiculous name for a tyre but are they any good? Does anyone have these tyres fitted?

I'm looking at getting a full set in 215/40/R17 & 235/40/R17 sizes on 7" & 8" wheels.

My current tyres are Goodyear Eagle F1-GSD3, but I've got to replace them as they're now 7 years old!

Thanks,
Jon

I'm going to be buying these tyres in the exact same size to go on my 8"F 9"R setup that will be going on the 2 next summer, wanted them on this year but money is tight!

Heard good things about these but would also be interested to hear peoples opinions on how they work on the MR2.

These general reviews are all well and good, but just because they work on one car, doesn't mean they'll work on another!

Again, very true, but nowhere in those reviews does it say they're a xxxx tyre, infact, quite the opposite!

Agreed, you also get idiots giving ridiculous reviews, like giving a tyre 10% because it was too expensive. The website will give you a general idea of how good a tyre is but not a lot more.

I've got them fitted on my IS200 and, whilst it's obviously not an MR2, I think they're great. Went from easily letting the ar$e hang out to not happening at all! LoL can feel there's loads more grip.

Mate has them on his EVO as well, I got them on his recommendation.

heard good things about these, seem to be taking over from the toyo t1r as the best budget/performance tyre, just not many sizes available for the mr2

A mate of mine ran the Hankook RS2's on his evo and loved them too, I hadn't really considered Hankook a 'real' performance tyre manufacturer until then!

I'm a bit of a tyre nutter, have tried many brands over the years on Zeds and RX-7's.

My Mr2 came with Hankook V12 tyres on the front, and Contisport on the rear.

The Conti's I will be changing soon as I've never rated them, even though they're supposed to be a performance brand name. I don't have to push the Mr2 that hard to get the rear end to break out with the Conti's, they're just so hard! I wouldn't fit them through choice ever.

The Hankook's on the front also feel a bit hard (but I can't judge them properly as I've never experienced them on the rear) but I would compare them to the Toyo's for braking grip, as they squeal slightly on the limits of their grip under severe braking.

My favourite tyre was the Bridgestone SO2, fantastic grip, and you'll probably laugh when I say that the budget tyre Accelera Alpha performs similarly well. I fitted them all round on my swb Zed running 1 bar boost, and I can't fault them. Conti's on the back of that would just spin all day long, but the Accelera's even feel like Bridgestone's when you touch the rubber after a hard drive, kind of soft and sticky to the touch.

I'll be fitting them to the Mr2 next, all tyres are way over priced but the brand names doubley so IMO, and they're no safer and often have less ability.

A lot of 'cheap brand snobs' will be reeling when reading that!
