[Mk2] [Turbo] Speedo doesn't work and engine management light comes on

Hi all
Sometimes my speedo doesn't work for a short while...then the engine management light comes on....then after 10-15 mins or so the speedo kicks in and soon after the management light goes off

Any suggestions please?

Sounds like your speedo sender unit mate.

I have the same problem.

Its a bloody nightmare to take out too

.

I would imagine you have error code 42?

Maybe speed sender in the gearbox. The sender unit wheel is made of plastic and comes off / shatters inside the gearbox (won't really do damage inside, just be ground to dust

). Without the speed signal engine light will come on above 40mph IIRC.
however yours work occasionally, so perhaps a wiring fault ?

Yes - my speedo is just stubborn "occasionally" to kick - in but once it does its fine...so maybe the wiring?
