OK this is creeping up on us now.

We need to organise a list of definite numbers, ferry times for the majority (i.e. not John or Scott) and a meetup point for before the ferry. Having just done Le Mans I propose a similar setup to what I did for that which was:

Find a travelodge / premier inn doing a cheap twin room offer near Dover
Stay there Thursday night
Get up bright eyed and bushy tailed Friday morning for an early (6/7/8AM) Ferry
This should see us to Duderstadt late afternoon

Return ferry should be around 5/6pm on the Monday afternoon, giving us ample time to get up, shower, eat, etc before getting on the road.

We also need to have a decent list of numbers to give to Mario and Benny so they know who is going to turn up and pay on the day.

My plan is to leave on Thursday 28/07/2011, and spend the night at the Nurburgring. Return on Monday as before.

There is an evening opening at the 'Ring 28.07.2011 - 17:15 >> 19:30
And it happens to be about half way from Dover.

Overall this diversion adds only 141Km (88 Miles) to the 872Km journey!

My booking in case anyone is interested

Outward Sailing
Operator: Seafrance
Route: Dover to Calais
Departure: Thu 28 Jul 11 06:40

Return Sailing
Operator: Seafrance
Route: Calais to Dover
Departure: Mon 1 Aug 11 21:55

I've gone for a later return, remember you gain an hour on the way back... Cite Europe will be open late for shopping... and I don't have far to drive anyway ;o)

I was thinking of taking the flying option, but if its camping then that wont work as cant take tents and things on the plane?

My vehicle now is a 7 seater truck so im procrastinating a bit as to what to do.

@Phil: We can bring a tent for you, if you want to fly.

Best option for you would be Berlin-Schönefeld, i life really close to this airport and can give you a ride if you want. But i would start to Duderstadt at Thursday evening. So if you book a flight and you would arrive on Thursday, i can pick you up :)

Sorry just seen this thread, I live in Folkestone which is about 20minutes from Dover and we have a Premier Inn and a Travelodge within 500metres of the motorway.

Also is anyone still needing ferry tickets? May be able to help out.

I think we are looking at doing same as last year and staying Sunday night as well so maybe a flight back Monday morning Phil. Would be cheaper as well I expect?

if you guys are already in germany, you could make a detour on the way back to the nurburgring. that's what i'm gonna do, I live in Belgium so calais is on the same route i have to take to go home, it's not that big of a detour.

Not on monday, but sunday all day. I'm leaving duderstadt sundaymorning around 8, and will arrive at the ring around noon. It's open till 7.30 I think. There are lots of b&bs around the ring if you want to return home the monday morning.
