European breakdown cover for cars over 15.

Post by pnicho »

Well am off to Le Mans next week and the AA etc are kicking off because my car is 15 years old this year but I don't know when it was exactly made (1996 but what month).

What European breakdown cover do people use for their old cars.....?

I got cover from my insurers (Sky). They only do a 12 month product but seeing as I'm going to Duderstadt at the end of July as well it beat any quotes I got for 2 separate week long trips for an old car. Plus it will cover me in the UK and I've been rolling around in a very old car with no breakdown cover for far too long

Green flag wouldn't do mine at 17yrs old but I'm pretty sure I used them last year (via Tesco breakdown).

ADAC. They are german. Their website is in german. However if you put the effort in its the biggest bargain ever. €65 for unconditional AA cover in the UK and full european cover.

RAC, AA coverage up here isn't that good anyway though which is why I went with RAC (apart from AA's prices / policies were pants), sure I'm covered for European travel with RAC.

After taking out expensive policies for numerous years, my current view is "take a tool kit, I'll at least be able to make it move!"

It's much cheaper!!

Having crashed at the nurburgring ](*,) i can vouch for the fact that they do cover you and if your car is worth more than £2000 they will send it back to the UK. Proving a modified car is worth more than a standard market price is tricky over the phone, but it can be done.

Turns out once I got the small print through that the breakdown provider had changed their terms and were no longer going to cover anything 17yrs or over. So I found these people:

No such problem :)
