Recommend a GPS Speedo?

Post by samu23 »

To cut a long story short, I need a new way of tracking my speed on my rev 1. The previous owner seems to have snapped one end of the mechanical speedo driver off inside the gearbox, and I cant get it out. Also I believe alot of the speedos that are converted etc are very inaccurate.

Can anyone reccomend a GPS Speedo? Maybe with the speed camera warnings on it as well, there seems to be alot of cheap nasty ones around, and I want something quite discrete (not a sat nav).

Thanks!

Sam

What about your mileage though? It will never clock up again. Would it not be cheaper to just have the sender fixed in the gearbox?

GPS ones don't go up in speed quick enough, especially ones on the phone or sat nav ;)

Yeah I heard if your travelling up or down a very steep hill, gps will think you are travelling at a different speed to what you are actually getting on your speedo?? Dunno if thats a load of cr@p or not...

I fit a snooper into my dash :thumleft: you can see it in the rhs Center air vent.

The air vents separate so you can still have one working one if you wanted. It's the right size and with 5 minutes of waiting for the hot glue to harden it's done!
