2GR-FE conversion parts?

Post by Minty Fresh Death »

Hi i've just joined up learn more about the 2GR conversion, I was hoping someone could give me a list of parts/work needed to get a 2GR into a 1992 N/A Mk2?

Could anyone tell me if it's allot harder than going with the 3vz-fe or 1mz-fe?

How much should I be paying for the engine and what is the total cost of a DIY conversion (in general)?

Sorry if i've missed something, i'm furiously reading through all the 2GR related stuff on the forum.

Its a lot harder to get hold of the 2gr engine.

But the difficulty in the swap is in the same league as a 3vz/1mz swap.

Pop over to the Twobrutal forum and use the search function, that should give you an idea of the swap in general.

In this order approximately:

-Money
-Engine complete with all ancilliaries/plugs/DBW throttle pedal
-Gouky engine mounts
-Gouky manifolds
-Turbo LSD gearbox and shafts
-Custom Y section to chosen backbox
-Turbo or Walbro fuel pump
-FPR
-Decent donor car
-Loads of little fiddly bits you didn't realise you needed until you get stuck.
-Lots of patience with the electrics
-New pants when you floor it for the first time

Twobrutal is your best bet for info, but as Luke says the major hurdle is sourcing an engine. The rest of it is no more difficult than the rest of the swaps.

Is there a list of cars which have the engine in the UK?
