You mean when I've spent every single penny I have!

Is costing me a fortune at the moment, just hoping it will pass in a couple of months when I've spent about 2K+!

I've only had it 6 weeks and I'm not sure I can ever be parted with it.

Will save putting the decals on till after the bodyshop I think.

Balls, found out those decals are for an AE92 Trueno, so no good for my car. :(

Problem is, it's not even like they're worth anything as AE92s seem to the parts bin that everyone raids. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Got the cheap pads today, so off I went to fit them. Anyways could see even before I got the wheel off that they are no good. They are for AE92 et al. so not a lot of use really.

Anyways am going to go for the Ferodo DS2500 pads from Adrian but just wanted something a bit better than the old pads until those are in stock. FFS. :-:

In other related news, finally got down to the bodyshop today, car booked in for a week for the 23rd April. :+:

Am going to get the Ferodo DS2500s from Adrian, who is also trying to sort me out with an oil cooler.

How far will you go to restore an AE86?

These guys made one car out of two. Mental:

Slight PITA as you have to click on each pic to view it properly, but was worth the effort I thought.

Rebuilding brake master cylinder.

The AE86 in it's natural state:

Master cylinder removed:

Master cylinder awaiting dismantling. Note on the AE86 it is aluminium, unlike cast iron on the MR2:

Old pistons removed and laid out to remind us that assembly is the reversal of removal:

Indy decided that she had to play ball throughout:

Assorted components in the parts washer:

All components cleaned in the parts washer then washed with soapy water in the sink. Now awaiting drying:

Hairdrying the master cylinder to help speed up the drying process:

Mark playing a tune on the master cylinder. Apparently this is a necessary part of the rebuild ritual:

Drying the brake fluid reservoir:

New shiny Toyota parts, we love these:

Lubing the new pistons with red lithium grease:

New master cylinder re-assembled:

Looking nice and shiny re-attached to the servo:

All in situ:

All went to plan, though we had to disconnect the brake pipes to the master cylinder and pump the pedal to get the air out. After that it was just straightforward bleeding. Brakes feel better, though have to say that the old pistons were not in bad condition at all.

Also we had a good look at the parts ordering system when we popped down to Toyota yesterday. Turns out that the decals we received superceded the AE86 originals, so are listed as replacements, so basically it states that the AE92 decals are replacement decals for the GT Apex.

Got a refund on the decals which bought us 5 litres of Longlife which we'll need when we change the thermostat. Mark, just forgot to order a gasket for the thermostat housing when he ordered it, so we'll need to get that first.

Really would love a parts washer. It makes that kind of job so much easier. Would have been great to have one last weekend when I did my gearbox/driveshaft seal.
Shiney new parts do look good in an engine bay don't they?????

It is a very handy thing to have Bod. We got ours years ago, I think they're worth it if you are going to be doing lots of refurbing.

You're welcome Dan. Hopefully oil cooler fitting next weekend!

Yet more coverage of the Ace Cafe meet:

Also, there will apparently be a feature in Banzai next month (due out 16th June) so will be interesting to see if my car is in the pics!

This is quite fitting because back in 2001 I had my first MR2 'Yummy' in Banzai where we did a shoot out organised by Michael Canny at the time.

Blong is my version of 'Bling'. I decided that I would not use a word that Ali G came up with on principle. :+:
