Hi Billy,

I just lowered mine 40mm on Tein springs (mega hard and not recommended if you use the car a lot) amazing for cornering though!!

Wasn't too difficult to do. But you will most likely need new droplinks all round as I had to cut mine off! There is a guy who sells them on eBay for a good price.

17's are the most popular size for looks but 15's are for the handling purists as they are what the car is designed for.

I have a set of GMAX lowering springs for sale (I was going to put them on before the Tein's but I got blinded by the brands) will drop 40mm.

look into shocks if yours are not great as lowering the car will destroy old/worn ones in quite a short time.

Coilovers tend to be quite hard ( not as bad as the Teins mind  ). I had some on my old MR2. not sure what brand though. Coilovers and mega hard springs are recommended for track day's and relatively good roads IMHO.

Stick to apexi (30 mm drop) or GMAX (40mm drop) for lowering springs. But bear in mind the cost for dampers and droplinks!!

Hope this helps?

My friends 2 is lowered by 40mm with 18's on and the ride is abysmal to say the least. I was going to lower mine which is currently on 17's but if I do it will probably only be by 30mm and I might not bother as feeling every little bump makes my cry.

for daily driver use i'd only lower it 30mm. 40mm made the ride quite crashy on the poor public roads in sussex.

i went for 16" wheels as a balance between handling, styling, getting good tyres that fit and fitting brakes behind them. you can pay anything from £400 for 4 wheel up to £1000 per wheel. depends on what you want.
for me a decent wheel has to be light and not just for show.

remember that the mr2 doesn't have 4 wheels all the same. the rears are wider than the fronts!
