I have a set of mcgard standard 24012 locking nuts...but was wondering if there was anything more secure available?
Are mcgard ultra nuts available in the correct size for a mk2 mr2? I can't seem to find them
I ask because I live in birmingham

Re: Best locking wheel nuts...? Mcgard?
Be careful with the mcguard key as I have had quite a few customers break them ! Another good security idea is to use tuner nuts for the other 16 nuts like http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/16-Alloy-Wheel-Tu ... 3f08d46c47
Re: Best locking wheel nuts...? Mcgard?
I bought some tuner nuts earlier today
Any idea on the mcgard ultras? Or other locking nuts?

Re: Best locking wheel nuts...? Mcgard?
bit of useful info on McGard nuts...
I bought McGard ones but make sure you get the "ultra" that have a rotating collar to stop them being removed with a stud extractor. Came out top in an autoexpress product review
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/p ... ultra.html
The ones I bought are slim 19mm for an aftermarket wheel:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MCGARD-ULTRA-LOCK ... 45ecdd1ac2
Along with 16 x "69412" McGard tough nuts (from same seller above but you need to email him). £86 all in delivered or about £35 IIRC just for the locking nuts.
info on tough nuts:
http://www.mcgard.com/AutomotiveProducts/LugNuts
NB for 21mm locking nuts to match standard nut sizes ones use 24195SL. If you buy the locking nut to match your wheel nut size you wont have to switch sockets to remove the locking nut/other nuts

Re: Best locking wheel nuts...? Mcgard?
Those mcgard ultras are just what I've been looking for! Couldn't find one in the right size before
So those 19mm 24517 ultras defo 100% fit a mk2?
I've already bought some tuner nuts that are 19mm so the size will be the same

Re: Best locking wheel nuts...? Mcgard?
I have both of the above types - one to match my standard sized wheel nuts an dthe slimmer ones too to match my "tuner" nuts.
I bought them both off eBay seller called "cbeaney1" - if you look him up on ebay and then send him a message hes very helpful and knowledgeable when it comes to recommending correct ones.
Just as an aside you can buy "tough" nuts from mcgard which are really good and dont scratch etc very easily - very good if your replacing scabby old nuts. Mine were about £40
I'm afraid I dont have their number but the company behind that ebay seller is:
M.A.P.S. LTD

BAPCHILD

People will steal anything if it isn't bolted down.

Someone on a different car club posted up a Bentley they spied in London recently, sitting on bricks. There's probably a gash rusty Golf sitting on new over-sized Bentley rims now. I would imagine it's still happening. Chrim will nick anything -if they get the right chance.
