Rust...Failed MOT...gutted!!

OK so,

A year of the old car being in a garage, never moved, never tested, ignored and neglected. Hasn't ended well!!

Knowing the car would be in fairly poor shape after being discarded a year ago for coolant issues, i set about the car with a new enthusiasm and a small pocket of cash.

New Pads
New Disks
New Battery
New Thermostat
New Core Plugs
New Handbrake Cable (was a fantastic bang trying to tow the car to free the calipers)
Full Service
Massive T-Cutting session
Sweat, blood, foul language etc etc


Mot time...FAIL

Failures:

Offside rear reg plate bulb not working - (laughed at that one)

Nearside rear (TOP STRUT AREA) Suspension component mounting prescribed as excessively corroded

Offside rear (TOP STRUT AREA) Suspension component mounting prescribed as excessively corroded


Near and Offside rear (INNER AND OUTER SILL) Suspension component mounting prescribed as excessively corroded

and a long list of little things that are easily enough fixed. The above on the other hand worries me... I can see my tyres through my boot at the moment and the sills look rather attached to the bodywork


Can anyone in edinburgh (remember i have no tax, mot or insurance ) give me a point in the right direction and even a rough costing for this kind of work. Was dead chuffed with the effort up to this point, but am worried that this may mean the end for the poor wee thing

Sometimes its better to bite the bullet.

Get your self a nice new looked after T&T'd one, transfer the new bits over if required or keep them for the next service.

Nothing worse than spending money on a something you could pick up for £600 in better condition.

My ladies ford for example. Still on going and in it's 2nd year and off the road still with the same problems as above, except me and my mate are sorting it as and when we get chance or lern a new skill.

As said Nick. Time to give up on that one. These cars are cheap now.

Not what you want to hear, but sell the rear lights on Fleecebay, that's £120-150, sell the bits you can, should get you another £200 & then weigh her in for another £150. Add that to the money you would have to spend on welding & you're already onto a winner.
