Turbo pressure sensor and pipe?

Post by Animal85 »

My car was booked in for a dyno run today to sort its mis-firing issue, but unfortunately didnt get tested.....

When the foot hit the floor, nothing happened, and error codes 34 and 48 (definitely 34, but not sure about 48) came up. Basically, turbo pressure sensor and throttle position sensor.

So...

Ive replaced the trottle position sensor but need a turbo pressure sensor (next to the diagnostics plug-in-thingymajigga)

The kind sir politely pointed out that there should be a hose coming from said sensor...

...and that the car wont run properly without it. Ive had the car for 5 months and i havent tinkered with it, so the hose must have been removed by the previous owner. Any ideas whats going on here? should there be a pipe, and where does it go to?

Below it i can see a "y" pipe, with one of the pipes plugged up with a screw. maybe this is it?

Any help appreciated on this one. I want my car to run properly!

Thanks

What revision is it? On rev1/2 cars the TPS is used for fuel cut and the in dash boost gauge so someone may have removed it to prevent fuel cut (a pretty poor way of doing it too!). On rev3+ cars it's used by the ECU to work out fueling/ignition and to be honest, with it removed the car would run like a complete dog and I doubt you'd get to full throttle! I know, I had the hose pop off of mine :)

Was the TPS calibrated? I reckon that yours is rev1/2 and the boost sensor as being disconnected for the reason explained...what other mods are there on the car...my boost sensor is diconnected cos I don't need it and I used the vac line for my avcr...It doesn't make any difference to the running on mine if it's plumbed in or out...clear the codes, go for a spin, hit full throttle and then re-check for codes....pull the efi fuse to clear the codes.

Its a rev 2.

Not sure if its calibrated. In regards to mods: Exhaust & decat, intercooler, larger induction kit, and boost gauge and manual boost control.

Looks like its over-boosting as well, but i dont know enough about all this boost jargen to know how to go about adjusting it. Im assuming i tighten the screw on the boost controller, then floor it and make sure it only goes up to 1.0 psi?

Wheres the Efi fuse?

Thanks guys

when you take off the TPS it no longer sends the correct signals to the ECU and has to beset again...there is a procedure for this but it's prob best left to a pro or someone who has done it before mate really...but you do need to get it done.
On a rev1 /2 that boost control sensor does fk all really...the in dash guage and tells the ecu that your overboosting and to apply fuel cut.
The EFI fuse is in the engine bay fuse box...pull it for 10 seconds, then you know for sure it's had time to reset.
You could always take the MBC off and plumb the vsv back in...just remove the MBC and connect the vsv to the blanked off pipe on your actuator.
