[Mk2] [Generic] Mk2 underbracing?

Post by shortie »

Are there any mk2 under braces available similar to the ones made for the mk3?

I believe xxxx used to do them, but I cant find anything anywhere! Would love to get one of these to work with my top braces!

Only after a front one if that makes any difference... :thumleft:

The only ones that I know of are Cusco and Toms ones, both span the front under body between the inner pick up points of the lower suspension arms. Getting hold of them is a different matter though....

As far as I'm aware, they both look roughly the same. In the photo below, it's the one down from the top:

The round tubular one. Where the lower suspension arm connects to the chassis (via the large bolt) the brace goes behind the head of the bolt. So it's just a case of undo the bolts either side, slide them out, offer the brace up and then slide the bolts back in and do them back up again.

Thanks to Slipping_Clutch, I'm now a bit closer in my search for these lower brace bars. These are the ones I'm talking about

Obviously what I'm after is the 2 white bits that aren't the ARB!

This is the one xxxx were doing but don't seem to sell any more...

Have contacted a US supplier of the white bars up top and they have said they can ship them to me, just awaiting a shipped price :thumleft:

I have to say that the blocker on IMOC is a bit childish. I know the score with what happened but ultimately you are just denying an enthusiast access to something he wants.

Try this.....(first letter of each word is the company - all one word)

I wondered why their name was getting filtered when I tried to type it in my first post about this... thats where the red one in my pics is from. I cant find them on their site any more.

Thanks for all the help on the other suppliers guys, I've contacted a few of them so will let you know what they say if any of them get back to me.

Think there would be enough interest in these for a group buy?

I sold an underbrace a while back made by SUSTEC. Don't have the pics handy but it's exactly the same as one of the others shown for that point (painted red with an aluminium name plaque riveted on if I recall). Bolts on the base of the radiator either side then to the front lower suspension strut bolts -looks like a big "H" with the top narrower than the base, if you see what I mean? never fitted mine after buying it -never saw the need on a road car but supposed to be effective on the track.

I can't seem to copy the pic, but the SUSTEC brace was like the white one numbered 145 but it was wider at the wheels I think Maybe not looking at it again -it might have been the same.
