Bought everything I need now cheers Steve. Got some gauges from an Elise store, they look kinda like my innovate MTX, which is a bonus, and they weren't over expensive either. Bought the braided t piece from demon tweaks for £20.

Thought I'd get in before the thread gets locked :)

With that in mind the oil pressure warning light is more of a "you're engine is xxxxx light."

So yeah, no loss in losing it so long as you keep an eye on your oil pressure gauge.

Iirc, I think the light comes on at around 3-4psi!! But there's every chance that info was wrong!!

I've also got a braided T-piece that I need to get rid of as well. PM if anyone is interested. Oh, and an oil pressure sensor & gauge (nothing fancy, but kept an eye on things for me!!)

7psi IIRC Steve.

Also if anyone's fitting a pressure sensor/sendor in the oem location, i'd definately run a braided/flexible line and mount it on the chassis somewhere, as in time it'l vibrate/rattle the sensor to an early death.

ahh, cool, so it is 0.5bar then.

I had my sensor tied to my boost pipe running next to the stock location so it was vibration free.

I have just taken a HKS oil pressure sensor from a rev 3 engine that I'm working on...it was attached via a braided line and screwed into block underneath the oil filter region...is this a stock location? can't post a pic cos I've done my back in and can't spin the engine around.

No mate, the stock location for the pressure switch is on the head, on the same face as the dizzy.

Have a look on this pic (I posted it elsewhere and noticed the stock oil pressure sensor staring me in the face)

The sensor sticking out above the water outlet is the oil pressure sensor. :thumleft:

I know that :thumleft: ...lol...but this one I have taken off was hidden right at the bottom of the block, and I was wondering if it's been drilled and tapped out or whether it's been put in another hole meant for something else...sorry to hijack your thread old mate...but if a better location is possible then maybe you could use that, your on a rev2 block though arn't you...

Is that where the oil level sensor goes? Mine doesn't have one, so I don't know, but it is listed in the BGB.

Oil level sensor on JDM N/As IIRC. Although perhaps on UK cars too, can't remember.

Where is the best place for an EGT probe? I know in an ideal world I'd have one on each exhaust port, but I haven't got, and I won't be getting four probes/gauges.

I was planning to go for the bung at the bottom of the downpipe, but the pic suggests putting it at the meeting point of the four exhaust ports in the manifold.

Best place for it is pre-turbo, you'll get the most accurate measurement there. I had mine in the exhaust manifold on my old Charade Turbo.

Putting it post turbo will give you less accurate readings as the exhaust gas cools due to transferring energy into spinning the turbine.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I read that the egt can drop 200degrees across the turbo.

Yep sure can. You want to know the temperature coming out of the cylinders.

So either tap into the stock manifold, or into my adapter plate (from the blue forum guy...)?

Tap it into either. You'll want a threaded tap
