I'd have black over White 2 tone with tofu shop graphics

LOL. Well I don't want to be too dial a cliche, though tempting as it is, I do prefer the Levin front end. If a car came up that was perfect in spec and it was a Trueno I'd go for it. Mark probably prefers a Trueno I think (yes, he likes his Initial D).

If you spent 8k on an import L, I dont think you would make that back on resale unless it had a lot of work done to it. A stocker certainly wouldnt. Price wise dont get confused with the UK cars - they command different (higher prices) prices to the imports.

5-6k will get you a very good example and should be pretty solid on resale.

I know they arent to everyones tastes but I would have another in a heartbeat and its frankly the most hilarious car to drive.

Fair point James. I don't massively mind if an import is worth a bit less when it gets here as I know it's a more expensive way of doing it. Depreciation free is a bonus really, but if it was worth less I guess it would stay at a given value.

I have been looking solely at imports as I want aircon and power steering. I just want to get the best I can. If that is a 6K car then I've no worries with that. I just haven't seen anything around the 8K mark, so I wonder how special a car it needs to be to be at that price? I remember seeing one that went ages ago that was 10.5K (bonkers really) but was a blacktop 20v with a full ground up restoration. Stunning car, but getting on for silly money!

If I'm going to spend less money then that's not a bad thing, could leave a little money over I guess for any tidying or improved mods etc. Might be a way to do it? I just really want to get the car as I want it, if that makes sense.

If its something really special that you really wanted I dont see why not spending alittle bit more to source THE one :) My problem is that it would take over a million quid to source my dream machines :D

Good luck in your search Lauren and remember the pics!

Well there is that, but I can't let myself get carried away here can I, have to set a limit as I don't want to be paying it off for too long.

I'd love a Blacktop 20v though:

This one is close to perfection apart from the interior colour and digital dash:

Brlliant! Comedy gold on so many levels! :thumleft:

Lauren - I had a look on Driftworks last night and there are a few examples for sale if you scroll through the pages.. none of them were balls out drift cars, just nice cars with good mods that you would probably do anyway.. and significantly cheaper than £8k :thumleft:

Levin means 'Lightning', Trueno, 'Thunder'.

Yep, aware of those that are for sale. It's always the way in that the same cars are up on a number of different forums.

Looks like we are going to use this one as a starting point:

Alex is interested too, so we'll see. Think this car is a little overpriced at 7K as it's been at SVA for months.

Lauren, out of interest, have you ever actually driven one or spent a prolonged period of time with one?

Ever heard the phrase "never meet your hero" ?

Stop trying to put her off!! =;

She wants it, she has always wanted it.. you only live once. Besides, she owes me a spin and I've always wanted a go in an 86 :thumleft:

Yep, only done a bit of drifting in one, that was the only time I've ever been in one. I know the cars pretty well though, so know what to expect. I lived with a 20+ MK1 for a while.

Go for it Lauren, I'd rather pay £8k for a Hachirokku than an old Escort :thumleft:

It was purely out of interest.

There's a good number of cars I would have loved years ago, but slowly and surely I just got to a point where I doubt I could live with them any more. Well, not as a daily any way.

This is why I want a car with power steering and working aircon. With those two provisos, I reckon I can live with it, plus have the Yaris as back up. Most of my during the week driving is just pootling around for work.
