Anniversary Pressie (skidpan training)

Hi folks, not been around for a while with not having my beloved Mk1 any more, but anyway...

My wife says that she doesn't want to go for a romantic meal for our 2nd wedding anniversary, she'd rather we both went on a skidpan training day. She rocks.

Anyone know where we could do that sort of thing in the west midlands? Lauren - are you involved in that sort of thing, or do you just do track days?

I went on one between Stoke and Stafford run by Cheshire police (I know its not in Cheshire). Not sure if it was only available via the police or whether they did training for anybody.

any race school should do it (sadly don't think oulton park do, as they'll be closest to you...silverstone and rockingham deffo do)....i'd go for a race training course over a police training course as the race will be more orientated towards pushing it where as the cops will be more about keeping it steady.

I know red letter days do skid pan session on vouchers.

Red letter days is on dodgy ground financially at the moment - probably best to avoid.

I'd be up for a skid pan day at Silverstone.
I'd love to learn how to control my mk1 in more hazardous conditions.

Doing a skidpan is always an excellent idea, and it lets you learn the basics of skid recovery in a safe environment. Last September or so I arranged a IMOC Skidpan day in Croydon at the London Driver Training school - cost ISTR was £65 per person, maxium of 8 people and the course lasted ~4-5 hours. You got 1:1 tuition from ex-Police driving instructors on driving RWD Sierra and FWD Primeras.

At the end of the day, there was a competition to see who could get around a set course around the skidpan in FWD and RWD cars the quickest - NB Video clip is 17MB

I'd be really happy to do it Ben.
I believe car safety control is high priority as although people can be the safest drivers on the road there are times when your still caught out.
Put me down for a deffo YES.
