toyota mr2 sw20 build

can anyone clear up the rumour that mr2 sw20 model was actually built by yamaha and not toyota
i realise that the engine design and possible build of engine was
yamaha
afew people tell me the mk2 sw20 model was hand built therefore
very expensive
i would appreciate if someone could clear this up

well the 3s-ge cambelt covers have yamaha on them, i doubt very much the mk2 mr2 was hand built

I believe the cylinder head is a Yamaha design, hence the 'YAMAHA' on the 3S-GE cam belt cover, but I highly doubt the whole car was or even the bottom end of the engine. Knowing other Toyotas of the time, it's a Toyota through and through.

Whilst the MkII was built (constructed) in the Yamaha factory (since the engines were Designed/made/tuned there) The components used were manufactured by Toyota

The MK 4/5 Fiesta Zetec lump was a Yamaha/Ford Design. Yamaha have designed a ton load of engines.

3SGTE being the very best of course.
