[Mk2] [Turbo] RE: Brake caliper grease.

Post by costelg »

OK....

Am doing a rebuild of the brakes on the 2.
My only question is what grease do I use on the brake:

sliding pins??
piston??
and squel shims??

I have done some research and all I got is contradictions : (
some say use copper grease, castrol LM, silicone based, plumbers silicone, lithium based grease (Red and white) and flourene based grease.

Surely there is some definate answer to this as brakes are vital!!!
I dont think putting copper grease on piston seals is advisable but there are people out there!!

All replys welcome...

lithium grease for the sliders

ceratec paste for the pads/shims (this better than copper grease if you have abs)

pistons dont need greasing.
