My Lil 5

Post by pistol pete »

well here is my first 5 i had just over a year ago..
it was very pretty car...
the person before lowered it but never did the dampers so it rode terrible and was not great but very pretty

fast forward a while after i sold it.. had a few cars since..
but then i had a gTV alfa.. lvoed it but was gonna start costing money so started looking around for a lil diesel..
then someone had a lil 5 and wanted a probe.. i asked if he would like a gtv... and after both meeting up the straight swap was done...
i was well pleased..
but the 5 did look like it had not see any love in a while..
here is what i started out with

yep thats a blue roof...
anyways not look too bad in the pics but it looked like it had not been washed in a few years..
ontop of that..
it cut out everytime you slowed down
the bonnet rattled
the brakes wobbled
the battery was held in by velcro
exhaust sound like it was blowing and the baffels rattle
the rear stut (behind the seats) had been removed>??
and on closer inspection the capitve nuts for it had gone..
also found the top seatbelt mount screw was just dropped in the hole and not screwed in..

but i felt sorry for the lil car and have taken it under my wing..

so far i have not spent a penny on it but..
first was the cutting out.. found the idle screw shut.. after adjustment drives and idle perfectly
The bonnet rattle adjusted and fixed..
the roof was sprayed with matt black (stolen from work)

Brakes found to be a big chunk out of the rear disc.. ~(i have new rear discs and pads on order to pay for them next week)

took the car into work(i am an engineer) and made up a proper battery bracket so it no longer moves .. much safer
used a nutsert gun and installed some captive nuts for the strut brace so that ia now fitted back in
drilled and re tapped to M12 the seatbelt bolt and now secured nice and safely
oh and the exhaust baffles still rattle could do with a new one.. found out the blowing was someone put on an end cap that weas too big.. so took it off

the engine.. 9notice the air horn..

then tonight i am in work as over time (12 hours) but at least its double time...

i decided to do the paint work.. not sure how well it will show in teh pics but the difference is brill..
cleaned
paint renovated
polished
waxed
glass polish
rimwax
leather clean

well pleased with the results..

after.. (like say this is on a mobile under workshop lighting so not sure how well its gonna come out..)

hmmm they did not come out great.. will have to take some when the sun is out..
but you can see the differnce in teh bonnet..
before it was very faded green now it really has a nice depth to it...

anyways some arts shots..

Love it mate! These have a soft spot in my heart after my 4 month love affair I had with one. I'd get that spoiler off though :-k

I will own another one of these :D
