Sky Insurance

Post by stealth »

My girlfriend had written off her car and I bought another for her but as a surprise, so PM'd Ollie@skyInsurance with a few questions about how to transfer her policy from her old car to the new one without Sky needing to speak to her.

Sky then phone at the exact time I asked them to and had it sorted within 5 mins, perfect. :thumleft:

Thanks Ollie / Sky :thumleft:

Sky Insurance

Post by Kateg28 »

I have sold my Mk1 and buying another but the gap between selling and buying is 6/7 weeks and spans my renewal.

In addition, I am importing from the EC and there are a few modifications (standard mods if that makes sense) and a more powerful car. ( still a MK1 but more powerful, um, wonder what that means :-k)

My existing insurers (Adrian Flux) were unable to deal with cover during the import process as I am collecting and driving it home and that it would then spend 24 hours going through the import process (MOT, Taxing, register for UK plates). They have been absolutely fine and good value up until now but not in a position to do this 'complication'.

Sky have stepped up to the plate. Have declared all I know about the car and have given me a very competitive quote which will insure me from the minute I sign the paperwork including the journey home. All I have to do is keep them informed and advise the UK registration number as soon as I get it (arrive on Sunday afternoon, all legals being done Monday morning).

The process is complicated mainly because of DVLA red tape (eg telling me I cannot even stop for Petrol whilst driving from the Ferry directly to the MOT centre  ) so I was greatly suprised by how simple the Insurance side was. Thumbs up for Sky. The service was so impressive that I will not seek quotes elsewhere, doubt I would save more than £50 anyway and the service is well worth that. :thumleft:
Thank you Alex at Sky (and Ollie of course)

Great stuff Kate, thanks for the feedback. Alex referred the quotation to me and showed me a link to the car, she is beautiful!

You make a good point about insurance for an unregistered car.. we (Sky) can insure on the chassis number for a limited period of time whilst the car is registered in the UK, this is a very useful tool.

And Kate, yes I do remember you from a MK meet some time ago! I never forget a Mk1'er! :thumleft:
