Yeah thats another thing, had to do clutch and fix massive oil leak in the weeks it pelted down with snow. It loses its fun factor when your under it all the time and got bored of losing control in the ice :(

buy a Mk1, it puts the fun back into MR2 ownership :D
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.

I should have known you'd have been along shortly

MK1.5 interests me, the buying of a mint mk1 and a rev 3 turbo conversion however, does not!

Same here, living in C. London I sit in it for the best part of an hour at between 10mph and standing still to get out of congestion before I get any real driving done. I haven't got a garage to work on the small mods and tweaks that make it the car I want it to be and I pay through the nose for insurance because of the postcode. I have only done 2.5k miles in 8 months but when I get the glass off and put my foot down when the sun shines there is no better driving experience.

My big bonus is really that I don't NEED the car, I can walk and I have a season ticket for travelling/commuting, so it really is for the eexperience that I have it and that never goes away \:D/

I'm now stripping my car as the engine went pop again, and I decided it wasnt worth paying for a another rebuild probably to pop again at some point in the future due to running high hp (wouldve been even higher had I gone for the rebuild again)

All I can say is dont do it. I'm absolutely gutted stripping the car and watching all the parts go for peanuts. I decided to get an Evo6 for a fun car, but it's just not the same

To make it worse, I've just seen an engine in the for sale section that I couldve somehow justified getting, but I've gone past the point of no return now - I almost let out a little tear.

If you can afford it, even if you think you can but cant really - keep the car!

Weird how it happened but just as my run around 306 bit the dust, the gf just bought her first car, and I'm a named driver so no real need to get something normal. :thumleft:

If I'm honest, I don't really need a car at all
I use public transport for work and a 15 min walk to bus to work.

So i guess all is well  :thumleft:

Just to bump this thread, as boredom has struck in again with the MR2.

So fed up of paying insurance and tax on it when it only comes out on weekends. Such a waste.

Been oggling MK2 Audi TTs and Porsche Boxter 3.2s!

And nearly everything else on Pistonheads that isn't an MR2

I'm the opposite, just bought one because I drive my 85bhp VW Transporter every day and missed the power and petrol smell! since selling my car 2 years ago. Insurance is cheap as its classic and not my daily. Tax and petrol is expensive though!
