Discussion and technical advice the SW20 MR2. 3S-GTE, 3S-GE, 3S-FE etc
Anything and everything to do with maintenance, modifications and electrical is in here for the Mk2.
Anybody else not driven their car in like a month due to the persistant crappy weather?
Mine aint been driven in nearly a month and brake discs have brownish rusty patches on them
Going to have to brave the ice down our street and get her out for a blast I think, with plenty of braking
Fair enough, to the point
That's the thing with the MR2 being a weekend car. It doesn't get used when weather is crap
Which in a UK winter is next to sod all!

Same here, I took mine for a 120 mile drive to Cambridge yesterday. Until then I had only driven it 3 miles in a month. Luckily the T-bars seal perfectly so no issues with misting or water. So I guess I'll just have to make up for it in the summer.
BTW - Red - If your not getting any use out of your Rays F-Zeros then it may be an idea to send them my way.
I've not driven one since June, when the old one got destroyed..... The new Tubby I've been building fromt he remnants promises to be a real treat - Black billies with Eibach Springs, TRD ARBs, ST205 chargecooler and HKS EVC IV boost controller.... it's killing me not being able to drive it yet with it not being finished!!
i had mine out for 3 hours yesturday on the B roads....
still wet outside tho! need some dry roads!
scary times, but was fun...
hitting full boost in 3rd and still spinning up at 50mph is hairy, lol.
I've not driven mine more than a mile in the last month. Good job I can walk to work. I occasionally try and get it up to temp just to melt the ice from inside! T-Bars are not so great in the winter. Roads have finally cleared of ice around here now they are forecasting more
i drive mine daily. No other car
Have some issues with the moisture, alternator starting to seize up sometimes and door freezing up, but she's holding up like a champ!
Much rather drive my mr2 in these conditions than some family wagon shopping trolley, just don't go into corners too fast and you're fine.
Plus side when you're on a quiet roundabout you can have the time of your life.
Snow/ice/fog... Ice inside the windows, doors iced shut.. Defrosting the T-Bar for an hour before it`s driveable?? Forget about it!! I`m living in my nice warm VW Transporter and sending the tubby for some work at 3S.. Wait for the fun to start next summer!
I've used an MR2 all year round for 6 years, although my latest one's not been driven more than a couple of hundred meters since last summer! Will have it back on the road in 2/3 months...
I've done about 20 miles in mine since the end of October.. Mainly down to the refusing to start and having a new dizzy cap, coil pack and battery... followed by front disks replaced on Sunday.
When it started playing up i bought a Volvo 850 estate as a winter car, great fun to drive but when i got back in the MR2 i'd forgotten what to do with the gear stick.- Volvo is an automatic
Mine's been off the road since November due to the weather and MOT fail on emissions. Glad it's in a garage at the minute being sorted. Been using our Toyota Lucida in the mean time, the 4x4 loves this weather
