[All] [Generic] FERRARI V6 FOR MK 2

Post by A.BLAKE »

Hey guys im planning a woodsport v6 conversion but i have managed to get my hands on a 3.2L 60 degree twin cam dry sump, v6 on carbs. 280 bhp.. Nice! now they guy who has given it to me says its from a ferrari dino but it isnt as there was no 3.2 dino engine and it looks obviously different.
Any one know what engine this is?? its missing the trumpets and manifolds!

That is true but paul at woodsport assures me providing a few vital measuments are ok it can still be done. Its not going to be cheap though, and i need to confirm the pedegree if its going to be worth it if only for the bragging rights to say i have a "ferrari" engine. And because so many people disrespect (in my opinion) one of the best japanese sports cars of all time by putting ferrari bodys on toyota running gear i think its time for a toyota body on ferrari running gear!!

I have a very good friend who has rebuilt many, many, many ferrari engines from classics to enzo's.
If you can email me some high resolution photo's he could possibly identify it.

fair enough but you'd be better off (i think anyway) buying a 2GR-FE Toyota motor. 280bhp out the crate and it bolts up using a provided kit :) Then it's an all Toyota car and likely won't cost more than the ferrari motor . :thumleft:

Do you have more money than sense? If so, crack on.. If not, go with something proven and easier to fit.
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.

The money is less important than the final result.. Its going to be a promotional piece for my design company, it will have a one off body kit of my design, I was going to do this project on a gt40 kit car chassis so this way is still saving alot of money and it can be counted as a tax expense etc etc.. I have reasons for doing it.. Dont think its an Alpha although yes that would explain the lack of car surrounding it.. lol But its coming out of the car its in at the moment for a better inspection so ill have some more pics and info soon.. Want to get it out the car cleaned up and eventually on a dyno to see whats what..

just been doing some looking on the net and farrari never made a 3.2l v6 for production use.

it can't be a ferrari 3.2L engine. unless it's from a race car and even then they were quad cam.

still looking for you, but so far it's not an alfa or ford.. i'm sort of ignoring the displacement incase it's not 3.2.

not list:
nissan
fiat dino
buick
lancia - not 100% but different looking heads. similar in other ways though.
Alfa romeo
aston martin
renault
datsun
british layland
rover
jaguar
ford
ferrari

i'm a bit stumped.
i'm sure the way i've been searching on the net isn't an exhaustive list of every v6 12v ever built but i can't find anything that looks close.

i found some pics of lancia engine but they were pushrod so no cams at the top. and the dizzy was in the wrong place.

numbers on the rocker cover seem like firing order.. might be a clue. but it didn't look like any of the engines i found like that. but that's how i went looking at fords.. and none of them seem to match.
