I did the gravel one and got gold first time by about a second. The Nordwand one took a few more efforts but finally got a bronze. The chamonix one, I don't know what it is with the snow levels but I am blitzing them.

I find on snow, if the flashing gear thing says 3, you can do it in 4th easily. I was 8 seconds faster on the snow than the gold time. On other levels, I beat the CPU by over 30 seconds.

Hmm, maybe I'm doing something wrong. I did take off the traction control as I don't do 'bad aids' and I think you need it off anyway as otherwise you go nowhere.

I found the other rallying events on the intermediate level on snow to be ridiculously easy and overtook the three cars in front. Like you said I used a gear high easily pretty much everywhere.

However when I do the Loeb one it seems pretty bloody difficult. Can I ask what settings you are running?

I'm running professional mode, all bad aids off (wherever it allows it), no assists and obviously in manual with a wheel and pedal set.

Also got a bit stuck on the grand tour on the Tuscan night race. Bit of a problem here, I can't see where the bloody road goes, it's too dark.

Certainly a challenge I'll give them that!

Plus that Lambo doesn't like cornering and braking at the same time lol

I had to do 2 laps slow to learn the route slightly before getting a 3rd and giving up #-o

The Ferrari race in that was good though :thumleft:

I am pretty much using the same setup as you but without manual gears, can never do them in games!

So whats the verdict on this then guys? Some of the shots of premium cards look awesome but then I have also seen some screen shots which make the game look like its running on a PS2 - ropey graphics for a game thats 6 years in the making!

Essentially, gameplay hasn't changed since GT1 back in 1997.

But it's good, just not 6 years good.

It gets an 86 at Metacritic, which seems about right.

Forza 3 got 92 though ;)

I think some of the older cars have just been lazily upscaled/ported/other from GT4 on the PS2, maybe it's me but the MK2 MR2 being one of them, up close it just doesn't look as clean as others. I did take a snapshot of it to upload but soon after my twice revived phatty YLOD'd again

Cooked the board again so it's been revived once more, problem is I loose a few game saves that i'm not too chuffed about if I get a new machine becasue they've copy protected them, Demon's Souls and GT5 mainly.

Afraid not pal :(

They should have lifted the ban on copy protecting saves especially during the back-up/restore option the minute YLOD's started to be fair but thats easier i suppose than encrypting save files to user accounts.

You can win the veyron after winning a championship (wont mention which one for those who dont want to know) and it just rockets past anything in its way and ruins other races which would have been a lot more challenging.

Ive tuned it up to 1190bhp and although its an amazing machine, i dont see why they allow you to get it so quick into the game.

Also ive noticed some more floors in the game.

When doing the special levels, Rally inter level specifically, you have some flags at the start which are waving in the wind but the shadow on the floor frame rate is so slow you can see the shadow jump from one position to the other. I know its small and im really picking at it but i work in QA and spot these things from miles away.

Also when in replay mode taking a picture, at some angle you get a faint line down the car like its almost overlapped ever so slightly.

Shall we rename the thread "whats wrong with GT?" :D

Won the Veyron but not used it yet. Still having sideways fun in the GT40.

On the rally events your car crawls up to the starting line at some very bizzare angles sometimes and doesn't even line you up straight pointing you towards the barrier.

Also why have I seen the ending movie when i'm not leveled up enouh to enter the extreme series or bothered doing half the licenses?

Its for all the cr@p players who are no good so they can get wins.

Its the same reason there is a noob tube in all the shoot em ups, is so the cr@p players can get kills

Also they are missing an invite system for the lounge...

They look awful [-X

More like a plasticine model than a car. Background looks really good though, especially the first one. Also why do they have mk3 wheels on? Albeit 5-stud ones, but the mk2 ones have larger centres than those pictured there IIRC.
