Formatting a PS3

Hi peoples.

So my old PS3 console's cd drive dead on me the other day so I quickly replaced the console as an early Christmas present to myself

I'd like to know, if I format the hard drive, will it delete ALL traces of my account numbers and information as I know with PC's, some peoples can recover deleted information.

I'd rather burn it if I can't delete all my account infomation for good as I dont want to be another unlucky sole to gave their accounts cleaned out by scummers.

I used the built-in formatter and sold it on happily.

Make sure you deactivate your old system before chucking it in the bin.

You can only activate your account on 5 consoles at a time.

Thanks Dazz, its sold on ebay now so I'll deactivate the profiles and format the disk before I send it out.

Restore factory settings after formatting as your account details (CC details for PSN purchases) are stored on a chip and not the HDD.
