Screenwash

Post by sangyboymr2 »

Hi all. I did a quick search on this subject but couldn't find any good answers. Obviously it's winter and it's literally freezing out, so the screenwash is turning into one giant ice cube in the tank and with no engine to warm it up, it aint melting!!

What sort of stuff can I put in with it to stp it freezing? I'll admit I'm not a genius with some things, and this is one of them. I know Halfords sell a -5 screenwash but it's been -7 by me so I don't think it'll help much.

Someone said use meths. I don't wanna do that 'cos it's gonna stink. Someone else said anti-freeze but I'm sure that goes in the cooling system, may be wrong.

I use Bluecol branded antifreeze. says down to -35 or something on the bottle so i do a 50% mix.

you can get it in BP stations.

...just to make sure, Bluecol do anti-freeze coolant also. DON'T stick Bluecol antifreeze coolant in your washers! (seen it before)

...Just stick the regular UNDILLUTED stuff you can get in your bottle. Around me, pre-dulluted or water mix stuff freezes around autumn time so just run neat screenwash fluid :thumleft:

yep, was a typo! lol i did mean the screenwash! im using a 50% mix as it dont really get super cold down here. most snow so far has been 2cm and that melted in half a day. :D
