[Mk2] [Turbo] Twitchy Rear End

Post by IanB »

Hi, i have an mr2 turbo rev 2. It drives well and holds the road as it should, the only problem i have with it is, after acceleration, when i let off the throttle to change gear the back end gives a little twitch. This is even when travelling in a straight line :? . Have any of you had this problem, if so, how did you fix it. Or does any one have any suggestions ](*,)

Ok, Thanks, so what does that mean. do i just need to take it and get four wheel tracking set up. Or is it more complicated than that. Is it a problem that you have experience with or an educated guess.??

It could be one of many things... or a combination. Worn or failed parts, geo set up, those in conjunction with poor rubber, etc etc. Where are you? I'd get it to a decent garage/affiliate for a check over and from there to a decent alignment centre.

i have changed to poly bushes on the rear end and even tried swapping suspesion legs with standard ones from another car, the other car drove fine, but mine still had the problem. I am near maidstone Kent, if you know of any decent garages in the area, can you let me know please. Thanks Ian

I had a similar problem with mine a couple of years ago and it turned out the tyres were on their way out. New set on them, balanced etc and everything was fine...until the tyres went again!

Check all your rear end nuts and bolts, 4 bigguns on the subframe, tie rods bolts, control rod bolts etc etc, make sure there all TIGHT!!

When i first got my mr2 i almost wrote it off within the first 3 days as when i lifted off the throttle at about 70mph the back broke away and started snaking on me  Turns out half the rear end bottom bolts was loose!
