I would have thought that you need to replace both rear wheel bearings. This is not really a job you can do yourself as I understand that you need a special peice of kit to 'press' the new bearings on...

Did you get a quote? Any info from the garage as to what they thought was involved?

Maybe get another garage to give a second opinion before you comit to replacing the bearings, it may be something else susp. related.

Oh - and if your doing your wheel bearings you might want to replace or remove the splash/dust brake disc guards. These are held in place by 3-4 torque screws - the guards are usually sh*agged and look ugly... and if your replacing the bearings it is a complementary job...just a thought anyway :thumleft:

As above.

I had my ns rear wheel bearing replaced a couple of weeks ago. Picked up the bearing (comes with grease, circlip and pin) for about £45 from ebay.

You can make the labour cheaper by taking off the hub yourself and giving that to a mechanic to press the bearing in but it's a real pain to take the hub off if you don't have a garage and intend doing it outdoors in this weather :(.

I ended up getting the garage to take the hub off and fit the bearing for about £100.
