[Mk2] [Turbo] Compression ratio's

Post by Turbolad »

My pistons are 9.0:1, what size head gasket will I need to safely see 2.0bar boost from a gt35r?

To run 2 bar boost I would not be any higher that 7.5:1 compression ratio to safely have the correct ignition advance and keep the engine and block in one piece.

You will not get down to that with just a bigger head gasket.

In fact the correct head gasket to use to keep the quench or squish as small as possible is the 0.8mm one

so should I go for a 1.6mm gasket, what would that change the compression ration to?
or, stick to the standard 0.8mm and not run as much boost?
how much boost do you think will be safe with either scenario?

am I right in thinking that with high compression, you dont need as much boost and get better off boost torque and driveability, but with low compression engines, such as old school cossie tuning, you get all the power with lots of boost with poor drivability - in comparrison?
