OEM SW20 Turbo Tyre - Yokohama A022

Has anyone used these?

I need two new rear tyres in standard size 225/50/15 and have spotted these for sale.

Sorry mate just saw this. I had 5 yrs on the Yokos before switching to T1-Rs. Much prefer the Toyos but that I think was mainly due to the Yoko fronts which I felt made the car more twitchy and nervous (and were a 195/55 rather than the Toyos 205/50)... no probs with the rears though. Probably better dry grip but less in the wet. A bit noisier and harsher also.

Yeah only using em on the rear, I have T1R on the front.

How many miles were you getting out of a set?

On the rears... probably 10-12k depending on how many dry miles with err, more throttle.

The Yokos are fantastic - in the dry.

And truly dangerous in the wet.

They cant be worse than the Yoko S-Drives I have on there now.

I agree that Yoko A022s are not very good in wet, good in dry. The tyre is 18yrs old however

Hankook RS2

The T1R are ok, but they're just an ordinary road tyre. The RS2 is a track tyre and is pretty good. Very keenly priced too. I run them in damper weather, and Kumho Ecsta V70A in summer.

I drive like a granny in the wet anyway, besides that I really wanted something with a stiffer side wall than the T1R.

also looking for a new full set of rubber that is decent in the wet and grippy in the dry was adviced on the TR1's but not from a mr2 driver.. so any more posts of the best tire for your money would be much apreciated

If you can get uniroyal rainsport 2 in your size then they are supposed to be very good, especially in the wet.

Goodyear Eagle F1's are good, but unfortunately not available in standard mk2 sizes

Got em fitted this morning, initial impressions are good but I'll reserve judgement until I've done 500 miles on them and worn em in a bit.

Love the tread pattern and the face theres so little writing on the sidewall, but thats just visual stuff
