Car done in Vinyl wrap

hey, has anyone had their cars wrapped or certain exterior parts wrapped?

looking at places that do it / prices etc

did my boot, but a very simple panel, £30 i think for the 3m carbon stuff, i think a car would cost £800-900, id love to totally carbon wrap mine

Cool, not a bad price. My paintwork isnt the best, and someone scratched it the other night while parked outside my house, so a full wrap in carbon stuff would look good i reckon, as my car is black anyways....

Do you have any pics of what you have had done on your car?

i need to redo it as im going spoilerless as part of a weight reduction excersise, i do want to do the interior panels on the dash too

this is what gave me the inspiration to think about it, although this is a glossy carbon wrap, the 3m is textured like bare carbon, anyway my boot has fooled a few people into thinking its real

some places wont wrap old cars with chips etc on them, some places wont even wrap 6 month old cars if they are covered in chips . Its been known too take paint / laquer off when you goto remove it if you have chips

Think I would spray the vents matt black first then apply the vinyl at least then if its a ball ache doing each vent you could leave the vented section matt black

not a bad idea that, well other than the boot being redone, i plan to do the bonnet next with the headlight covers, i can get away with that, perhaps the roof (like sonic type cars) before the ball ache of bumpers/doors/rear qtrs, the wings will be a doddle

There's a few forums banding vinyl wrap questions at the moment. From what I can gather it's a sub £1k job for a full car -but there's a 3-5 year lifespan of it. So it works out allot cheaper than a re-spray but there's the lifespan thing. Not that paint lasts forever and potentially you could have 2 cutom wraps done and last 10 years for the price of a really good permanent spray job.

....the underlying paint needs to be spot on though mind. No rust or flaking, dings or marks. I'm thinking of having my Aristo bonnet done in carbon vinyl -was never really a fan of fake wraps before but can see the sense in them recently, the wraps have really come on recently in terms of looks and what you can do with them. I kind of think it's going to be the way forwards rather than spray jobs to some extent.

...see that's interesting for me as someone who changes cars that often you could buy one -so long as it's stright and have it done in a very unique scheme and if it soesn't sell just have it removed and sell it as stock. Kind of an attractive option as it's not permanent. On the flip side is the cost of having it done of course.

The textured "dry" weave look is OK for show cars, really not sure how it works with something which is actualy driven and not trailered everywhere. I'd imagine the dust collects everywhere on it. Dry carbon doesn't look right unless it's for a reason IMO -not on a road car anyway.

Thanks mate. Yes, its 3M, too. Ive not seen the gloss carbon vinyl before. especially not in the flesh. Would look better, however the matt stuff does at least resemble dry carbon.
