[Mk2] [Generic] Clear Tobelerone indicators.......

Post by wolfie308 »

Hello everybody peeps, this is my first post for a long time, but now I'm back. Some of you will know me from here or other places, and a few of you already have my exclusive lenses fitted :D

I was rather surprised not to find anything when doing a search for 'Tobelerone', so I hope this may be of interest. If you have an import model and want to de-Tango the the side indicators, now's your chance.

I have made up a small batch of these, so they are currently available ex-stock. Have posted here first as I an have illustrated fitting guide to follow shortly. Pricing details will be posted in the Affiliates section.

Hiya chaps - nice to see such a speedy response :D

Paul - tinted ones? - you mean like these.........

The lenses are smoke tint sprayed on the inside so you get a perfectly smooth and scratch proof outer. I did this pair as a special for an Aussie guy to go with fronts which I also supplied. They are a bit of a PITA to do.

Kenn - I'll P.M you payment details

BTW........Price is £35/pair + £2.50 to cover PayPal and post. For smoked, add £3

They look really good! Certainly a viable alternative to blanking strips and side repeaters (for ease of fitment, I mean).

Cheers for that Slarty, although I came up with these about 4 years ago, I haven't promoted them as much as I should have. That was exactly my thinking when I first saw this as an alternative solution.

They were inspired by the similar style sides I'd previously done for the Mk3 Supra....

Okay, it does require a bit of relatively simple DIY to fit them, but a very cost effective OE style when you consider the cost of the blanking strips + U.K side indicators and drilling your wings.

I know some folks fit the blanks and leave the side indicators deleted, but I think this may be illegal and certainly a tad dangerous IMHO

Just to add I bought some of Wolfies rear clear lenses when he first offered MR2 stuff and the quality of the moulding was superb so a thumbs up as a supplier of unique options. The GT4 guys seemed to lap up clear lenses from him while I was a GT4'er also so all the best with them.

You give them clear, you give them smoked, and beggar me - they want flat!....in clear or smoked?

Actually, flats haven't escaped my attention, however there seems to be one little problem - the flat lens is longer than the Tobe, so the backing piece would a lot of cutting etc and I don't think it would stand up to close inspection.

I recently came accross these on eBay.com.....$40/pair + $40 shipping the U.K  :pale: ....crazy. Make you own mind up re the look of them - a bit too err.... aftermarket looking for my taste. :puker:

Hey RST many thanks for that. Do you have a pic with the Rev 1/2 rears fitted? Funnily enough, it was the GT4 ST205 clear fronts that I first did over 5 years ago and I've shipped 00's of pairs worldwide from Iceland to Tasmania, and they're still my best selling product. Very popular with our Dutch friends too - Hiya Reno :thumright:

Hi Wolfie,

Clear Tobelerones turned up at the weekend and managed to survive the onslaught from the hound. :thumleft:

Will get round to fitting them once the clear front indicators are ordered and arrived. Bought some a year or so ago and on of the from reflectors fell out!

Further to a number of requests for info on how to go about fitting these, I hope this link will answer most questions....

http://www.mr2oc.co.uk/forums/topic.htm ... 9&p=768984

The only things I would add are 1) - Keep the edge where the glue goes free of the silver spray and 2) - Use a very thin bead of quick set epoxy to attach the lenses.

I'm also asked about removing the units from the wings. I know my friend Adam did it by loosening the wheel arch liners without removing the wheels - you can just make out in this pic the liner's only partly detatched.

If anybody else has any useful tips, please feel free to add them
