[Mk2] [NA] pipe From Hell question

Post by TRDave »

Have got a G ltd Mrk2 rev1.
Ive been losing water so took it to a local tyre company to find out where from.
Apparently its right in the middle of the car landing on the plastic tray.

So my question is.
Is it possible to just cut the pipe where the split is say 6 inches and just join a normal piece of coolant hose onto it with jubilee clips to replace???

Its apparently leaking at an alarming rate once the thermostat opens ;(

Help please

Depends where exactly the leak is. I'm guessing it's above the tank?

Most obvious place is from above the petrol tank so you'll need to drop that first if it is... Not called the pipes from hell for no reason...
Give an affiliate a call for an idea on cost. Parts wont be expensive but there are a few hours labour in it.

Yes it can be done as thats what I did to mine, leak was where the bracket was bolted to the tunnel, cut it just below (pig of a job, dremel wiggle, swear a lot).
Got one jubilee clip on and connected up,Has not leaked one bit in a couple of thousand miles and bleeding was a normal job as pipe follows same as toyota route.

I used a flexible drill shaft and dremel bits.

Its a piggy job but easier if you take off top intercooler pipe and gubbins around the area, heat shields come off easier too then.

Got the hose from Halfords,19.1 mm springs to mind.
