Re: My new project (he's been hit FFS)
well i might be getting a border front end for my car that needs a colour change so i might have a go at it

Re: My new project (he's been hit FFS)
there seems to be loads of choice about paints, which one did you use, and where did you get it from
- your work?

Re: My new project (he's been hit FFS)
I used paint from Lechler.
Bought from Express paints in Portsmouth.
The company I work for uses them and they have an online catalogue
(which seems to be playing up right now
)

I used about 5-6 coats of cellulose paint which has a tough finish, didn't need baking, and didn't need to be sprayed in a booth.
Though it did need compounding afterwards to get a nice shine on it.

The roof was done with acrylic rattle cans from helfrauds and laquered.

jasongtr wrote:do you not need to lacquer the cellulose paint then

Nope not a plain colour like the white I chose

You would still have to laquer metallic though

As said, I'm not a painter by trade and I'm sure if you posted about it someone more in the know could give you more answers.

I dont think Celly is widely used anymore though, It's all gone waterbased.

Re: My new project (he's been hit FFS)
hmm mine is metalic, so ill need to research this, then buy the spray gun, paint and water trap and go oh xxxx just as you start

I'm looking to sand my car down throughout the winter and spring.

have you got any tips of respraying? Ive got a compressor to borrow, but I need advise on the technique of applying the paint.

Re: My new project (he's been hit FFS)
Not had a good day today, the car was parked up outside work as usual when one of the traders turned up selling stuff.
He pops his head into the workshop saying something along the lines of
"oops I think i've just hit one of your cars"
.
I walk out with him to check and said jokingly
"not the white one"
?

"Yeah the white Mr2":pale:

FFS, the paint and lights are about a month old as is the wing the hand jockey hit.

I was so mad I walked off
(before I started crying) and he came in, gave me a lolly
and a hug saying
"it's only a piece of metal" WTF
??? It's MY piece of metal you idiot
!! Wasn't very pleased when I told him he WAS going to pay for the damage, I think he got the impression he wasn't going to have to sort it.

He agreed to pay up reluctantly but I'm still gutted, the guys at work are going to do the repairs next week and my boss will invoice him.
TBH there isn't a massive amount of damage but it's the total pain in the backside of having to strip it yet again and fit back up.

.plus I'll be running around in a poxy corsa for a few days.
