MK2 Rev2
Ssince ive owned this car the tem gauge has never worked. today i have fitted a brand new rad, bleaded the system trhough. all good so far
but this nor reading off the gauge. any ideas guys ?
you need the temp sensor that is on the left hand side of the engine, in the water outlet, it faces the rear of the car, and is grey in colour with a single wire plug connection.
if you disconnect the plug and ground it to earth, you should see the sender move to the top..that way you know its the sensor.
tested the gauge as discribed the needle lifted just to the rear of the engine is a 2nd stat, which has hat its plug cut and 2 spade connectors on, and are very lose, could she have an affect. with them in plugged the engine refuses to start
replacement sensors can be purchased from camskill, I think they cost £12 plus delivery, just double check you order the temperature sensor for the gauge and not ecu
There is only one thermostat on the MR2, I am unsure which sensor you mean..But that sensor is the only sensor that can effect the the reading of the gauge in the dash.
