[Mk2] [NA] Recommended exhausts for an NA

My mate has an NA with a standard exhaust that is knackered.

He's after something a little louder than stock but only a bit. Apart from going custom, what options does he have for an aftermarket unit? Search didn't show much...

The Blueflame didn't seem so loud, not sure you can get it without the wonky pipes though.

thats the only gripe I had with the Blueflame exhaust - the stock "straight out" look suits me much better. Mongoose would be an alternative...

when we're on the NA exhaust topic - where can I source a whole manifold ? I'd rather look for a new one. My current one is err... wonky at best.. ):

put a standard tubby exhaust on it (you'll have to have the centre pipe made up) but look stock + sound awsome!!

can't go wrong with remus mate
bit on the expensive side,
but quality is excellent,
sound is nice and throaty but not to loud.
i have brought 3 of these over the years,
2 new,and one secondhand which i have put on my current car. paul.

they come painted in a heatproof finish.

Do you have this hooked up with a decat? Do you know how much louder it is with a decat than standard cat? Any problems passing an MOT with a decat for a rev 5?

all 3 systems have been fitted with decat mate
no problem with excessive noise,even with tops off.
nice and raspy when you give it some
no problem cruising at 85 on private roads
would reccomend to anyone wanting something away from
the run of the mill.
as for passing mot with decat,never had to put it to the test.

I'll be honest with you -have you thought about a custom one? Only saying this because I fitted a Blue Flame on mine and whilst I do like it it is still slightly wonky after allot of fiddling though looks OK -this is why Mongoose broke-off from them and went a diffferent route (so I'm told -Blue Flame never changed their approach). Just I had a custom jobby on my ST205 when I bought it and it looked exactly the same as an HKS superdragger without the HKS stamp -and I just had a custom twin system made for my Aristo -and I basically picked the style of tips I wanted, the kind of style I wanted on the back-boxes and fit and the volume at certain revs and he did the rest, and it turned out no more expensive than an off the shelf job. Think I'd explore that option again any time.
