I also think that the 4AGE engine is a key reason I like this car so much.

I'd certainly like to have a go in a 20V converted mk1 and especially if the car had been modded to lose some weight.

Years ago I used to fit them to Elises/Exiges, so it's very much do-able.![]()

I would dearly love to get my hands on an Elise and stick a 1mz v6 in, i think that combo would be amazing.

Have you had a seat in any converted AW11's out of interest?
I have had a drive in an SC conversion on a UK mk1 MR2.
I work on these for a living and also fit audi 20v turbo conversion
The three conversion for a lotus elise/exige are
1- honda k20
2-audi 1.8 20v turbo
3- duratec 2.0+2.3
honda k20 are getting hard to come by now as they was only fitted into a civic and cost£1700 to
£2500 if you can get them complete.

What's your opinion of a nice lightweight V6 in one of these then Wayne? The 1mz is a very light engine and very torquey.

That's not a conversion though is it Jeremy, the Mk1 SC exists from the Toyota factory.
Get yourself a go in a 1.5 or V6 powered car and then decide if it has upset the handling or ruined the balance.I can assure you it does not, just bucketloads more power whenever you want it
