A bloke from Demon Tweeks said.....

Post by Mike 'MR2' McHugh »

Hi Everyone !!

I work at a hotel that is well close to the Nec and its the AutoSports show starting tomorrow, was talking to a guy from Demon Tweeks and he said i should try using Redline MTQ90 in my gear box....'and just see what a difference it makes'. Has anyone used this before and what difference would it actually make to my gear box ?? Also heard that they are going to be concentrating a bit more on making some new products for jap cars more available.

I have the MT90 in mine. seems good, i didn't have any problems with the old stuff, but once the car is warm it seems smoother.

But when the cars cold it seems very hard to engage 1'st or 2'nd when changing down. :?

quite expensive aswell....

I've put it in mine recently, as with Dale I never had problems with the old stuff (which I think was changed 18 months ago), and for me now it seems ever so slightly improved.

I also put it in the wifes Mazda as hers is a bit notchy between 1st & 2nd - no improvement :( so I guess there's something else causing that problem.

mt90 can help with notchy changes and failing synchros. i changed the oil on my turbo box to mt90 and it made a big difference to 2nd gear synchro. i used to have to be very slow changing up but with mt90 the change was much improved.

We have an excellent discount setup for both Redline direct and Demon Tweeks, sadly both have been lost with the site death and I suspect neither companies would see any benefit from being forced to pay in order to provide us with a saving.

Michael

We've discussed this and big companies like those won't be forced to pay as they won't be physically registering with the site and posting to members.

We very much want to retain our discounts, also with Britannia who are keen to keep giving discounts on breakdown cover.

I hope we can keep the DT discount. On the old site I think it said to speak to a particular person in sales, does anyone know who that was?

i`ve got a feeling the guy at deemon tweeks was kevin, but dont hang me if i`m wrong.any way mt90. i used it in my old mk1 and found it made a bit of a difference,i am going to put it in my new car when i get a few minutes.i dont expect miracles but it seems to just smooth things out a bit.maybe its a mental thing and i`m kidding myself.

It's Kevin Corbett in UK Sales, you cannot get the 10% IMOC discount any other way.

I fitted Redline MT90 in our tubby g'box and it's made it much smoother. You'll always have more difficulty going into lower gears as you're asking the synchros to work harder.
Toyota recommend a GL5 oil but you try to find one that doesn't contain sulphur, which when it breaks down in the box, produces sulphuric acid which rots away the synchros, adding to the crunchy feeling.
