What do you think of my Gauges?

Post by furiouslee1 »

Its been a long time in the making but I have finally finished installing my gauges.

The three on the top of the double din (Volts, Oil Temp, Water Temp) are from Race Spec, cheap and cheerful but do the job.

The two on the pillar are from Auto Gauge, these really are smart for the money (about £40 each, but include everything that you need). Very impressed by these gauges, plug and play stepper motor type with all of the cables that you need, they even piggyback each other. Very neat.

Sandwich plate used for the oil pressure and oil temp again cheap and cheerful but worked a treat (no leaks yet) but be careful when fitting the sensors as the cheap ones are a M10 threads and the plate is actually a 1/8npt. I had another hole drilled and tapped to the correct M10 thread on the plate to match the sensor. The water temp sensor also fitted in to the sender plate but again it differed in thread sizes.

Anyway this is what it looks like, it's a bit of a diy special. Not exactly quality but it's in keeping with the rest of the car

Let me know what you think

Cheers

Lee

They look awesome, don't know if personally I could hack that brightness at night :)
But top marks, blackpool illuminations have something to live up to now

Excellent job, I'm in the middle of this at the mo.
How did you modify the dash above the gauges?

Thanks for the comments guys.

The dash was really tricky, i was hoping to get away with not cutting anything from the dash but in the end i had to remove material from the top where it is pushed in towards the air vents. This was not enough so i removed the brace at the bottom of the cover so that the stero can drop down even more.

To be honest its not great but nothing rattles around, its the only way i could get them to fit.

The 52mm gauge holder simply just fits in with two legs on each side that needs to be pushed in to keep them in place. I purchased the one that is stepped out and angled towards the driver, i should have probably just purchased a std flat one but again i thought it would be a good idea at the time.

Also the lights on the Auto Gauge dials dim when the lights are turned on full so you dont get the glare from them when driving at night. Again i would recommend these to you all if you want a cheap (but quality) gauge for sensible money.

All the best

Lee
