powder coating wheels??

Post by korean »

Whats the thoughts?? On the various motor bike forums that I'm on, there are believers and none believers. I have had bike wheels done in the past with no issues and know of a great place to have them done in Manchester.

Anyway I won a standard set on Sunday off Ebay that need a coat of paint/ powder........

My anniversary model has the darker grey wheels, and obviously standard wheels are silver/alloy look.

The car is a Rev 3 96 in Blue, so i was thinking Black.

Mine are looking tired, but i prefer the standard wheels for their handing.
Should i have put a fishing rod after that last comment???

As long as the wheels are properly prepared, shot blasted and cleaned then powder coated and baked, I can't see an issue? I have a powder coated cam cover and it's been 100% fine for the 5 months it's been on...

right, got the tyres off the spare wheels, 3 decent tyres and one bol'oxed one, no kerbing damage either, just manky scabbiness where the salt has got under the lacquer, Now the choice is gloss black or dark anthracite, but the issue will then be finding the correct colour paint match for the centres. Hopefully they will have some form of paint code for me to have a fighting chance.

Powder coating doesn't 'crack' ... so if the alloy is damaged/cracking underneath... it won't show up.
