[Mk2] [NA] Water getting inside

Post by sangyboymr2 »

ok so i recently fixed my leaky t bars with some good advice from the guys on this forum and everything is fine with them. However, after the heavy rain last week, during which my car was parked outside and not driven I have found quite a lot of water sitting in the driver side footwell!
This is really surprising me and I'm totally stumped as to where it's come from. There's no drips anywhere and I've run my hand along the inside, under the steering wheel, centre console, around the bottom of the door, but it's all dry. So I just had this large puddle of water in my footwell that seems to have come from no-where!
Any advice or help or suggestions??

Take off the trim that runs down the front of the door opening (equivalent to the passengers side grab handle bit) and check there with someone running a hose on the car outside, particularly at the front outside edge of the t-bar. If you get the carpet up first and you should see it dripping.
This is where my leak was starting resulting in a soaked footwell but no dampness apparent anywhere else. The water ran down the inside of the trim from the under the seal and invisible to the eye from the cabin.

PS. You sure that's not a rev 2?

To be honest I'm not sure if it's a rev 1 or 2. It's on a K plate.

Thanks for your advice anyway, I'll check it out.
